Bought this as a gift for my book and gardening loving friend.
It baffles me why two reviewers praised this book here to the moon and then gave it only 4 stars. It is what it is, and I can understand that one might not rate it the best book ever written (it isn't), but for what it is, I found it very enjoyable. Brits, of course, are famous for their gardening chops, and this talented writer was undaunted to jump in and write some of her thoughts about them and their gardens.
An urbane if one is permit and affectionate history of gardens and gardening and gardeners by a committed and greatly talented writer and gardener. Details and tales abound with keen and relevant references to writers and researchers as well to the apposition of town and country. The history of allotments and their role in sustaining people was a relevation and helpful insight into many Brits. Delicious and definitely delightful.
This is the perfect book to take with you into the garden. It will inspire you to expand your gardening and help you connect with what is already growing. I received an ecopy ARC from Netgalley. I will buy a print copy for my garden visits. It seems more fitting.

Had the opportunity to read DBT Therapeutic Activity Ideas for Working with Teens, and this is one of the most informative and useful workbooks I have ever read. The author goes to great length to demonstrate skills to improve your teens life, including worksheets with examples! This is such a comprehensive skill based book, I'm sure I will use it with all of my clients. Well written and fun, while working on changing difficult behavior and learning coping skills- I'm so appreciative to have this book and will be buying extra copies to give to clients. Love the, "Turn the Mind" worksheet, see photo included in review.
I don't recommend this if you're working with teens. I looked for a newer copyright date hoping it would be somewhat updated but this one is dated and very "cutesey," and doesn't seem appropriate for teens. Possibly for elementary or middle school students. Don't purchase fi you work with teens.
After reviewing many DBT workbooks, I discovered this wonderfully well written and illustrated workbook. This workbook has been one of the most useful books in my therapy room for kids in middle school, high school and young adults going into college. The handouts are easy to use and parents have responded well to using them at home with their children. The skills are nicely laid out and easy to understand. Many of my clients and parents have commented how helpful this book has been for their child. I would highly recommend this workbook to any clinician working with the adolescent population.
This is a must-have for clinicians and clients who work with teens. It makes DBT exercisesthat could seem mundane and dry fun and user-friendly. The format is attractive and easilylegible. Thank you Carol Lozier, LCSW for giving therapist and clients this gift
Great book and some great activities with detailed instructions
I was excited about the activities to use in my DBT group. Unfortunately there are quite a few errors throughout the book..
This is an amazing book! It is practical, hands on and easy to use. Each DBT module has its own section with worksheets and handouts. There are clear, concise directions for every activity and the trainer will be able to print a handout and teach without a lot of advance preparation. The worksheets are attractive and not complicated so the learner will be able to review and integrate the information between sessions. As a life coach for foster and adoptive families, I believe the information in this book will greatly benefit both parents and children. I am excited about this addition to my toolbox of activities and I know you will be too!
I am sure this would be a great resource for clinicians, but if you are a parent whose teenager is working on DBT skills with their counselor, this book is also for you. There are some great handouts that you can photocopy and use with your teen, including instructions, to supplement the skills that they are already learning. In fact, I'm sure your child's counselor will thank you if you introduce them to this book. Valuable resource!

I was curious to know about rabbits. Basicly I learned that there is not much or any money in raising a few rabbits, but realistically for survivalist or preppers, it shows how awsome rabbits can be as a yearly food source or a great meat substitution that can save your family thousands in meat costs every year. Good stuff to know. This book gives you the basic rundown on what you need to know and how to prepare them.
This book has the basics of rabbit care and breeding without having to search hundreds of websites for the same info. The pictures were very helpful. I like the cost analysis best of all. This book did not contain much as far as troubleshooting, but that isn't the intent of the book. Overall I think this book is great for those just starting out, and is also suitable as a resource for older children to learn about raising rabbits to feed the family.
Was just looking for ideas. Note: check with your family before you decide to raise rabbits for meat... also these are livestock and like any farmer forget vacations of any duration.

This is the short book, but it has a lot of interesting animals including some birds, reptiles, and mammals. It includes the most well-known Australian animals such as kangaroos and koalas, but it also has less famous animals such as sugar gliders and bilbies. This book has text and illustrations. It does not have photographs. Some of the illustrations are a little stylized but they are still nice.
AUSSIE-AWESOME! OVER IN AUSTRALIA is yet another perfect book from Marianne Berkes! This colorful book is full of facts and fun. I just purchased it for my niece who goes to a school that is decorated with Australian animals, so I know she is going to love it. Her mom will probably be fighting her for it though because she just loves Australia. This book is perfect for people who love Australia and all the creatures of that country. It is fun to read with the rhyming verses and counting, and it is also very informative and factual.I may have to add multiple copies of this one to my collection of Marianne Berkes books that I use to teach Title 1 Reading classes. I already use Over in the Ocean, Over in the Jungle, and Over in the Arctic. I heard there's a new one coming out called Over in the Forest soon! All of Marianne Berkes' books are colorful, entertaining, informative and loved by the children (and adults) who read them!I have never had students get so excited about reading until I started using these wonderful and amazing books written by Marianne Berkes.
Beautiful book! Love the rhyme, and then when you get to the end, you find out that there was another Australian animal hiding on each page! Such a great book for kids!

my parents are living in Australia for 2 years on business so I have purchased Australia books for my 2 girls- now 5 and almost 3. Purchased this last year and they've loved it ever since! I read it in my daughters preschool class last year and all the kids enjoyed it!
Because of the many learning activities included, this will be a valuable book for a few years. My grandson is 2 1/2 now, but seems like this will be appropriate until age 6 at least.
