The book is outdated , no longer covers the test content as of 2017. There is nothing wrong with book - it's 8 years old -just beware it will not suffice to pass exam in 2018
I bought this book to study for the 2009 GRE, which I just took. The book is very light on detail, and very sloppy throughout -- you probably saw better diagrams and explanations on the home-made handouts you got from any of your professors. It certainly isn't up to the standard of a good textbook. All the way through, there are inaccuracies and errors.However, it does provide a crude sort of overview of what topics are on the test. It's slightly more useful than the official list of topics from ETS, in that you think you might know about a particular topic, but when you read the review section you'll find that you've never heard of certain subtopics. My advice would be to skim it, reviewing the stuff you know, and noting which areas you need to learn more about. DON'T try to learn new material from this review guide. Instead, go pick up a GOOD college intro bio textbook, and learn as much as you can from that over a few weeks. Or if you're really ambitious, and have several months, go to the intermediate textbooks.The single (!) practice test is also kind of infuriating -- full of sloppy questions and outright errors. And it doesn't give you any feedback about how well you do -- you might freak out after only scoring 75% on the practice test, but if you then take the official practice test from ETS, you'll find that a 75% actually translates to a damn good score -- somewhere around 90th percentile.
This book provides a decent look at most of the areas that are emphasized on the Biology Subject Test. However, I found inaccuracies in some very basic concepts, so double-check what it tells you with other sources. The book is also poorly written both in terms of grammar/syntax and explaining concepts clearly. Other reviewers recommend purchasing the Campbell Biology text instead of this guide, and that is a good idea if you can determine which concepts will be useful for the GRE and how many details you will be expected to know. Campbell is so detailed that it would be easy to become overwhelmed and to spend too much time studying unnecessary concepts or facts. I studied using both books and found that I could determine what was important with the Kaplan Guide and then learn those topics properly with Campbell.
A bit better than the PR guide, at least the paper is of higher quality. More topics are covered in more details, but there are still things missing. And beware, some of the details in this book may not be correct. The best thing to prepare for your GRE biology is to use this book to determine what materials you need to know for the exam, and study the equivalent topics in your Campbell (or any intro. Biology textbook)

I brought this book to study for my Biology exit exam. I was helpful in certain areas but it is missing a lot of information in the subject of biology
I used this book when preparing for the subject test. Having taken the test, I feel like this book is almost as helpful as not studying at all. It's just kind of useless in terms of relevant information. I wouldn't recommend it. Find some other study material.
I noticed 3 mistakes within the first few pages of chapter one. If the author doesn't know an ester linkage should have a double bond to oxygen, doesn't know that the chemical formula for an unsaturated fatty acid is not the same as for a saturated fatty acid, and thinks that carbon can have 5 bonds, then I don't feel comfortable using this book as a study guide for more advanced topics. I wouldn't buy this book.

In this story Pancho comes across a town of avocado farmers. They are being robbed of their avocado. Pancho tries to help but gets injured. The old grandmother tells him about his “people†and he goes in search of them. What he learns and what he finds may just help him protect the innocent farmers.
seriously? the first pancho book was absolutely brilliant. this second one is rough. its too serious and this story is too comples and doesnt flow as easily as the first book, but more importantly are you really teaching 3-5 year olds to point at each other and call each other freaks? because that is exactly what they will pick up from this book. i was excited to buy this book and didnt finish reading it to my kid. i just deleted it. how disappointing.
This is a lovely children’s picture book with gorgeous illustrations, about Pancho Bandito’s (and his sidekick, the Amarillo Armadillo) quest to save an avocado farmer against a band of thieving desperadoes. Along the way we learn a valuable lesson about how a hero must be clever, strong, and restrained in their response. I particularly love the third lesson, which involves showing mercy to your enemies.There’s plenty of humor for adults as well as kids. I love the circuitous trail on the map, lines like, “Git me on that overgrown chicken,†the desperadoes “whoopin’ and hollerin’ and raisin’ a ruckus,†and best of all, Pancho’s famous squint “…that tames a buckin’ bronco.â€The Avocado Desperadoes has a great reveal at the end which will make everyone excited to find out how the story continues. Overall, this beautiful picture book provides fun for all ages.

My 4 kids (ages 8, 6, 3 & 1) and I absolutely love this second book in the Poncho series! The illustrations are beautiful -- I would frame a few of them and hang them on my walls, and all of the new characters are so intriguing! The storyline is so fun, with twists and turns, we read it 100 times in the first few days. Definitely buy this book if you have kids!!!! Great present too! Can't wait for the 3rd Poncho book!

Began studying for my CCENT/CCNA this year. I began with CBT Nuggets videos and some of the online material that was available. After a lot of advice I decided I should order a book to also study from. Wish I had ordered this book sooner. It is written in a way that keeps you entertained even though some of the material could be very dry. Everything is explained in a way that was simple and easy to understand. The pre chapter quizzes made knowing what information I could gloss over a breeze and helped to focus on on more necessary parts of the chapter.
I used a third edition in college and I adored the book so much that when I decided to finally get my CCNA, I bought this 4th edition and it's pretty much everything I expected it to be. But there is one oversight I can't get over and they've even mention it on their site. They left out RIPv2 for some reason. On it's face, it's not a crippling issue and I can find it all on the internet but this is Cisco and they should know better. It's too obvious an oversight to let go. That's literally the only reason I'm docking a star and I look forward to the 5th edition when they get this right.
Extremely helpful for myself and others in class just starting off in Cisco.If its only a recommended book for your Cisco class ignore the need to save money and pick this up.Only gripe is that it baby steps you in the beginning of every chapter. Then again we all have those days where we completely draw blanks.
The book it self is great. It covers almost all commands even past CCNA. Layout is a bit strange and is missing some needed descriptions, but the book I would give 5 starsI bought this on kindle because with a book like this you really want a search feature. The problem is all the commands and their descriptions are IMAGES, not text. So if you want to search a command you have to search the subcommand, go to the chapter and read to find the exact one you are looking for.ex. Say you cant remember setting up a trunk and what comes after: switchport trunk allowed ?. You can search "switchport trunk allowed", you have to search "trunk " then browse through the chapter to find the subcommand.Why is does an all text book about text commands not have searchable text? Microsoft and G books both have image text search support...why does this not exist on kindle, the largest ebook platform there is.
This book will give you every command you need to prep you for these exams. I l like that it gives you an explanatory reference for each command. I carry this book every day it's not heavy.
Networking bible. Invaluable. Layout is a bit funky, but you will have it memorized quickly as you page back and forth. Use it constantly, because who can remember every single command?

It takes cringe moments in the movie, and represents then better. The great Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is still portrayed as the pathetic, washed up, deadbeat hermit - but you begin feel sorry for him in this comic book presentation. A lot of it is narrated by Luke himself, and you feel his iner turmoil. Not to give spoilers for the few who missed the movie, story elements that bothered many fans are still there, Extracurricular parts, such as “your mama†jokes and getting green milk from the creature, is, thankfully, omitted.
This is only an adaptation of the film so tamper your expectations there’s not a lot here added from the movie. But the internal thoughts of Luke added more context for him and made it worth the read to me. The review is more for the comic not the movie (which I did love btw)
Great adaptation. Art is outstanding, story is true to the film but with added depth and insight. Really nice book. My kid loves it, thumbs through it almost every day and we’ve already read through it together a bunch of times.
I have read the first issue but am waiting for it to come out in oversized hardcover format. I have every other of the film adaptation comics in OSHC so if anyone knows of if/when it will get a hardcover release please let me know!
