What a terrific book this is. I loved the characters and I loved the writing. The book's funny and touching and, with the author's light touch, I got to learn about running. I wonder if Diana Harmon Asher has more stories to tell about Joseph, Heather et al. I would definitely want to read them...or any other book she writes.
This book made me laugh out loud and tear-up as the author perfectly captures how it feels when you are lonely, picked-on, or just different. The main plot focuses on how a boy with ADD and the new, tall girl in school help each other overcome. The dialogue sounds like real middle schoolers and the inner monologue sounds like a bright, self-aware boy with a sense of humor about what he thinks is his place in the world. A subplot about his grandfather touchingly shows that feelings of loneliness do not stop in middle school. I read this to my 10 year old, and we both loved it.
I am sure middle-aged men are not the target audience for the book but I just loved it. The lead, Joseph, is a pre-teen with some learning challenges trying to get through 7th grade and begin to find his place in the world. This is a funny (I found myself laughing out loud a number of times) and heart-warming story of how small unexpected triumphs can forever change a pre-teen's view of himself and the possibility for growth, courage and friendship. It doesn't sugar-coat or over-simplify the struggles that a kid with special educational issues faces trying to fit in (including avoiding the school bullies) or those of his friend, Heather, trying to understand her parents' complex relationship. Asher handles the issue in a caring and sensitive way. There is also a wonderful character in the grandfather of Joseph who plays a key role in his development. At the conclusion, I was sorry the book had to end although I was smiling ear to ear.
Side Tracked tells the story of a boy who finds his own sense of self worth through his experience as a cross country runner. On the way, he makes friends, learns to face his own fears and recognizes that what makes him different also makes him special. In truth, most of us are "different" in some way or other. But we don't necessarily find a way to be okay with that until late in life. Any young person reading this book may well be inspired to positively reflect on their own unique gifts with a more positive view of who they are and what they have to offer. And that makes this book pretty special.
Wonderful book! Beautifully and sensitively written with a great sense of humor. Delightful story of a young man who is trying to figure out his way in life : and discovers that running is something he can do. Lovely story of teen aged friendships and the power of finding your own way in a complicated world. I love this book. Highly recommended!
An outstanding book that speaks to middle schoolers on many levels. Deals honestly with learning challenges, girl empowerment and all the insecurities of those years. Also fast moving and funny!
What a great read - entertaining, easy-to-read, the story will make you laugh and cry... Loved every minute of it!
My twin 7th graders read and loved this book. They found the main character highly relatable and said it was one of their favorite books.

Review
“Etgar Keret is a genius...” —New York Times "A brilliant writer...completely unlike any writer I know. The voice of the next generation." —Salman Rushdie “One of my favorite Israeli writers.” —John Green “Etgar’s stories are a reminder of that rude intangible that often goes unspoken in creative writing workshops: a great work of art is often just residual evidence of a great human soul. There is sweetheartedness and wisdom and eloquence and transcendence in his stories because these virtues exist in abundance in Etgar himself… I am very happy that Etgar and his work are in the world, making things better.” —George Saunders“Terrific… As funny, as dark, and somehow as sweet as his fiction.” —David Remnick“At once funny and profound, The Seven Good Years is a gem. Etgar Keret approaches memoir the way he does fiction—from surprising angles, with a sly wit, and bracing frankness. Read him, and the world will never look the same again.” —Claire Messud“I don’t know how Etgar Keret does it, but he can turn anything into a brilliant story. The Seven Good Years is full of them, and they happen to be true, and full of love, kindness, wisdom, humor and stuff I long for as a reader but cannot quite name. Keret’s writing is soul-healing.” —Aleksandar Hemon“Being a father, having a father—Etgar Keret is the man in the middle and he captures the job just brilliantly.” —Roddy Doyle “Hilarious, brilliant, poignant, magically economical in its language, marvelously generous in its approach to the world, this book is like its author: genius.” —Ayelet Waldman “When I first read Etgar's stories, I wondered what was wrong with him—had his mother smoked crack while pregnant? Was he dropped on his head as an infant?—until I met him, and grew to know him, and realized his problem was much worse than I had ever imagined: he is a terribly caring human being in a terribly uncaring universe. Basically, he's fucked.” —Shalom Auslander "Etgar Keret is #1 writer in Israel and #2 in my heart (after my dachshund Felix).” —Gary Shteyngart “Etgar Keret’s stories are funny, with tons of feeling, driving towards destinations you never see coming. They’re written in the most unpretentious, chatty voice possible, but they’re also weirdly poetic. They stick in your gut. You think about them for days.” – Ira Glass, host and producer of This American Life“If I could get you to read one writer, it would be Etgar Keret. His impossible blend of humor and tragedy, cynicism and empathy as well as big-hearted narratives that occupy the tiniest of page counts make him one of my favorites. Maybe one of yours.” —The Los Angeles Times “Exhilarating… For Keret, the creative impulse resides not in a conscious devotion to the classic armature of fiction (character, plot, theme, etc.) but in an allegiance to the anarchic instigations of the subconscious. His best stories display a kind of irrepressible dream logic.” —Steve Almond, New York Times “Etgar Keret possesses an imagination not easily slotted into conventional literary categories. His very short stories might be described as Kafkaesque parables, magic-realist knock-knock jokes or sad kernels of cracked cosmic wisdom.” – A.O. Scott, New York Times “[Keret’s writing] testifies to the power of the surreal, the concise and the fantastic… [O]blique, breezy, seriocomic fantasies that defy encapsulation, categorization and even summary.” —Washington Post “It's astonishing what he can do in just two pages: go from funny to bizarre to touching to satiric to meta to surprising and surreal… [A] master storyteller, creating deep, tragic, funny, painful tales with scarcely more words than you've read in this review.” —Carolyn Kellogg, Los Angeles Times"Keret’s writing is unwaveringly funny and light, making it the perfect easy read for a plane or train ride." —Vogue"Spare wry… Without overplaying any single aspect of a complicated life in complicated times in a complicated place, Keret’s lovely memoir retains its essential human warmth, demonstrating that with memoirs, less can often be more." – Publishers Weekly (STARRED review)"Clever, witty, and wise." —Esquire“Etgar Keret's The Seven Good Years examines the absurdity, fragility and unpredictability of life… in true Keret style, it promises to be both poignant and uproariously funny.” —Chicago Tribune“Keret’s unrivalled voice really shines, offering startling revelations, wry humor, and notes of grace…. [A] quiet dread sometimes seethes just beneath small moments, offbeat incidents, and strange dreams. Always on display is Keret’s astonishing capacity to transform even the pettiest of quotidian inconveniences (such as a delayed flight) into exuberant flights of fancy and realization. His voice is truly incomparable…. The Seven Good Years sparkles with humor and poignant wisdom, rendering wonderful immersions into Keret’s inner landscape, the gentle and deeply affecting ways that both strangers and loved ones stir his compassionate imagination.” – The Forward “Keret’s deadpan tales, collected in such books as “Suddenly, a Knock on the Door” (2012) and “The Girl on the Fridge” (2008), often blur the line between the real and the surreal… This unusual perspective makes Keret’s new autobiography especially intriguing… the book brings together his engagingly cockeyed observations on a variety of subjects, from his disparate family to run-ins with cabdrivers and pushy moms at the park.” —Washington Post“Keret calls it a memoir but it's really a TARDIS — a time machine that does two kinds of magic at once. First, it takes us back through seven years of Keret's history, showing us the world (its beauty, madness, and inescapable strangeness) through his sharp and sympathetic observations. It's not an overtly political book, but one defined by violence, bookended by life and death.” —NPR"It’s no surprise that The Seven Good Years – Etgar Keret’s first foray into non-fiction – is extraordinary. Imbued with all of its writer’s familiar innocence, cynicism, wonder, nuance and insight, these essays – spanning a period from the birth of his son to the death of his beloved father – are, like his stories, very short, deceptively accessible, and utterly brilliant. It is a rare three-page piece that can move a reader to tears, but Keret does it without effort, and brings unexpected tears of laughter a moment later. Fellow polymath Clive James has called him 'one of our most important writers alive,' and it’s no overstatement. For fans of his five best-selling short-story collections, this latest offering will be a delight; for new readers, I can’t think of a better entrée into Keret’s work" —Francesca Segal, Jewish Chronicle"[F]antastical, funny, and often heartbreaking." —The Rumpus“A bittersweet memoir… captures the time between the birth of his son to the death of his Holocaust survivor father, years of contentment punctuated by air-raid sirens and jam 'sour with memories.'” —Vogue.com “Reviewing Etgar Keret’s new volume of mini-memoirs poses something of a pleasant conundrum: What can you add to the reading world when you’ve just turned the final page of a book in which a writer has managed to say so much, so movingly, so concisely, and so entertainingly?...Keret brings the same surreal edge and black-as-pitch humor to these nonfictional musings as he does to his short stories… [His] writing exudes an intimate friendliness, as though he’s bantering with you, one-on-one.” —Boston Globe

Etgar Keret is someone you'd like to have at a dinner party... spinning a few tales about his life as a father/husband/writer/son and sibling.Easy on the ear and interesting... amusing at times and poignant at others. This short collection of anecdotes is just that... and it is this simplicity, combined with the fact that we can all relate to many of the events he describes in some way or another, that creates a memorable little book.Only a very good writer can write about the ordinary and make it interesting to the reader. I look forward to purchasing a work of fiction by this writer now.
I must be one of the very few people who had never heard of Etgar Keret---until my wife, who had just finished reading the book, recommended that I read it, too. Fortunately, with e-readers, it's quite simple to buy a book and read it without having to schlepp to a bookstore. in this case, we were 30,000 ft above the ground, flying to New York's JFK airport, and by the time we arrived, I was almost halfway through this very funny, very poignant memoir.I could have finished it before we landed, but I'm not a fast reader, and easily distracted....but you should be able to get to the end (it comes far too soon) before you land. That assumes you are flying as you read.Keret is funny, even in translation from the Hebrew. You'll love this book.
Etgar Keret is a wonderful writer of short stories that communicate the essence and contradictions of life in Israel. He has a keen appreciation for the quirks of his characters and is able to relate anecdotes that realize the various personalities, including his own, by detailing their stories in a such a way that the reader really gets into their histories and motivations.
A change of pace from micro-fiction writer Keret, rather than inhabiting his usual heartbreaking and strange universe this memoir provides insight into his life, his family, and the man himself.
Very enjoyable! I can't believe I'm saying this, given the grave and seriousness of the subject matter, but it's little wonder that Mr. Keret is one Israel's top writers! He's a terrific read and I look forward to reading more by him! Hope he releases more in English, but that's just being selfish ;-)
Humerous and a quick readThe author came to our synagogue he read from it the next day I purchased it
Etgar Keret's stories have made him one of my top favorite contemporary authors He writes about Israel today with sensitivity, perception and humor. Underneath the humor, it seems to me, lies profound understanding of the human condition.Balzac called his novels "The Human Comedy." I think Keret's stories could fit easily under the same umbrella.
Keret is brilliant. What is so surprising about the ultra short form he has perfected is how poigniant and deep each piece is. Yes, witty too. But surprisingly meaningful. Get it.

This was an interesting read. I knew some of the history of the Ingalls Wilder family, but this really did a nice job of filling in the unknown parts. I really wasn't aware of the extent that Rose played in editing her mother's early books. I knew she had a hand in the process, but it seems she did a whole lot more. She was quite an accomplished author in her own right, but chose to let me mother take the credit for the most part. This book also gave a good picture of the history of our country during this time frame. It was a very different time than what one might think was happening. I did feel that parts were redundant and the story line dragged a bit, but for the most part, it held my interest. Fans of the Little House stories who don't want to have their warm, fuzzy memories of the stories spoiled by the facts should probably pass on this book.
Good read, as a fan of LIW I found the book informative and useful, but I would have enjoyed some photos for the subjects the author spoke of, it would have awesome to see some of the the farm, or the documents she described etc
A thoughtful book about the complex relationship between Laura Ingalls Wilder and her daughter Rose, who collaborated on the Little House books series. It focuses on the very different lives of pioneer mother and city-dweller daughter caught between two worlds.
This gave a very human perspective on the daughter of Laura Ingals Wilder as well as Laura. It just shows, once again, that we are all very flawed human beings, we do the best we can given the times we're born into, our basic personality and our parentage. I thought it was good take on talented, persistent people in two,if not more, generations.
Anytime I see a book with a new slant on Laura, I want to see what is new these many years after her death. The author had a connection with Laura same as me. Most of the material I had read before but the political slant was new. The author or editor needs to remove some of the repetitions.
An interesting book, but I felt the author's analysis was a little weak and not always well-supported. I didn't come away truly feeling strongly either way about the Wilder women and how their Libertarian views impacted the Little House books, but I did learn some interesting tidbits about their mother-daughter relationship and about how much involvement Rose Wilder Lane actually had in writing this iconic series.
This book was very informative about Laura and Almanzo Wilder and their daughter Rose Wilder Lane. I enjoyed learning about Rose's independent spirit. I also enjoyed hearing about the revising of the stories Laura wrote to make the Little House series more suited to children. It was an excellent read.
The author sheds a lot of light on the story behind the Little House on the Prairie series. Absorbing read.

Review
Praise for The Lost Education of Horace Tate:“As readers discover Tate’s place in history, they’ll also enjoy reading about Martin Luther King Jr., W.E.B. DuBois and other activists portrayed in rarely seen moments.†—BookPage ★ “Walker’s extensively documented work is a much-needed corrective contextualizing the landscape of school desegregation; required reading for those interested in the past, present, and future of education of African American children.†—Library Jounal (Starred Review) “Quotes, anecdotes, archival photos, and other primary sources document the relentless battle for equality for southern schools, resulting in victories that affected education across America. Historical background provides context, and personal insights underscore the realities, dangers, conflicts, and triumphs. Readers follow Tate as he progresses from observer to organizer to leader, eventually becoming an example for a new generation of activists. Both education and civil-rights scholars will appreciate Walker’s new insights.†—Booklist ★ “This well-told and inspiring tale, with its rarely discussed angle on the school segregation fight, will draw in readers interested in meaningful work and activism, or just a well-told tale.†—Publisher Weekly (Starred Review) “[A] new perspective on segregated schooling and education reform in the South. . . . A fresh, well-documented study of the complex struggle for equality in education.†—Kirkus Reviews “A more conscientious torchbearer of the history of black educators in America you will not find. Vanessa Siddle Walker is a brilliant thinker, a teacher’s teacher, and a sage storyteller. Her words illuminate the passion, the tragedy, and the inventiveness behind the struggle for equality in the South.†—Lisa Delpit, bestselling author of Other People’s Children “Walker compels us to see that the main struggle for educational equality unfolds off stage. This subterranean process, reproduced over generations, transmitted advocacy that made, remade, and ultimately overturned Jim Crow from the bottom up. This is a passionate, original, and brilliant study of how black educators navigated racially segregated schooling.†—James D. Anderson, dean of the College of Education, University of Illinois “In an era when policymakers are quick to shutter urban public schools and fire their black teachers in the name of competition, Walker’s incisive scholarship on the brilliance and dedication of the black educators discarded during the school desegregation era requires us to confront the full cost to our nation of racialized policies that erase committed professionals because of the color of their skin.†—Amy Stuart Wells, professor of sociology and education, Teachers College, Columbia University “A beautiful story, a powerful life, and an essential read.†—Gloria Ladson-Billings, professor of urban education, University of Wisconsin-Madison and author of The DreamKeepers “African American teachers intentionally operated outside the public eye to achieve justice during Jim Crow; so much so, that their bravery has been forgotten. The writing is suspenseful. The story is tragic. Yet it provides practical lessons about the critical work of educators in times of civil unrest.†—Jarvis R. Givens, assistant professor, Harvard Graduate School of Education “Meticulous in its historical detail and compelling in its narrative. . . . It is both a tragic tale, and a cautionary one for those who continue the struggle today. Well worth reading!†—Beverly Daniel Tatum, author of Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? Praise for Vanessa Siddle Walker's Their Highest Potential: “A compelling story.†—Journal of American History “Excellent.†—MultiCultural Review “This is a first-rate book and a very moving story.†—James D. Anderson, author of The Education of Blacks in the South “[A] must read . . .†—Gloria Ladson-Billings, University of Wisconsin-Madison Praise for Vanessa Siddle Walker's Race-ing Moral Formation: “Groundbreaking and riveting . . . [A]n essential book.†—Andrew Garrod, Dartmouth College

I have learned so much from this amazingly detailed social history. I thought I was pretty well educated on racial affairs in the South, but it turns out I had just skimmed the surface. The discipline, care, and determination that black educators brought to Georgia in the first seven or so decades of the 20th century make for a remarkable story. They encountered such terrible conditions, very few resources, and deep disdain, stonewalling, and hatred from the whites in charge of the state's education systems. They developed workarounds, strategies, and collaborations to do their best for black children. Indeed, they created a vast and powerful underground network to resist being absorbed and made voiceless, and jobless, by the white power structure. All Georgians owe these men and women a great debt. The struggle for quality education and equal opportunity goes on, but the quiet heroes of this book made incredible contributions. Horace Tate was one such educator who went on to become a powerful advocate for equal educational opportunity. The author spent years talking with him and studying his extensive archives. I can't wait to have a discussion group willing to tackle this deeply informative and thought-provoking book.
I am so grateful to the author for piecing together this account of the way Horace Tate, his predecessors and contemporaries fought to obtain the education that the Negro children of Georgia and other Southern states deserved under the Constitution. I was deeply saddened by the overt prejudice and discriminatory actions of the white majority and I hope in coming years we can ameliorate their dire effects.
The years and effort it took to obtain positive educational objectives for many and the effort of a few to prevent and in their ignorance, unable to apprehend the future result of an under educated populous.
Beautifully written. I saw history of my home town, Fort Valley, GA, and my alma mater, FVSU. I was also neighbors or knew some of the people in the book.
Excellent and detailed account of African American educators fight for equitable education for black children and how that pursuit was distorted in the implementation of “integration.†Dr. Tate is heroic as were all of those unnamed black teachers who quietly participated in this struggle.
Why is the Kindle edition of this book over $10 more than the hardback version?

Review
"Cosmic Cradle is such an enjoyable read and not just a dry esoteric or academic study. It is a beautifully crafted book with an almost universal appeal. Mothers will love it, fathers will be engrossed by it and grandparents will wonder at the cyclic patterns described by these young children."—Peter J. Morris, alternative blogger, writer, researcher “Cosmic Cradle is a must-read for everyone who has forgotten the life of their soul before birth. A penetrating and insightful inquiry into one of the greatest mysteries of existence—where we come from, who we are, why we are here, and why we forget.”—Joan Borysenko, PhD, author of Seven Paths to God and Minding the Body, Mending the Mind“Modern research into the nature of consciousness is revealing a consistent picture: consciousness is nonlocal or infinite in space and time. It is not confined to the brain, the body, or the present, as many have believed. Cosmic Cradle puts a human face on this research. This fascinating book will bring comfort to anyone concerned about our origins and destiny—and who isn’t?”—Larry Dossey, MD, author of The One Mind, Reinventing Medicine, and Healing Words“Cosmic Cradle gives me chills of recognition. This book is the truth. And I found it both an affirmation and huge inspiration.”—Christiane Northrup, MD, author of The Wisdom of Menopause and Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom“I love the concept of Cosmic Cradle. It relates most completely to the unequivocal reality of reincarnation, an essential understanding of life. Pre-birth memories and memories of previous incarnations continue to help us understand our complex Cosmos.”—C. Norman Shealy, MD, PhD, author of Energy Medicine“Cosmic Cradle is a stunning achievement, comprehensive in scope, spiritually illuminating! In one stroke the authors have succeeded in lifting out of obscurity a world literature—ignored during the recent era of scientific materialism—representing virtually all cultures and religions from ancient to contemporary times.… This work of encyclopedic proportions is the rare fruit of forty years of passionate and scholarly exploration of human consciousness, the neglectedstepchild of twentieth-century psychology. Elizabeth and Neil Carman have thrown open a golden door.”—David B. Chamberlain, PhD, author of Windows to the Womb: Revealing the Conscious Baby from Conception to Birth and The Mind of Your Newborn Baby“Cosmic Cradle gives us a wider lens through which to view the questions every child asks—where did I come from and how did I get here? Cosmic Cradle is fruitful reading for couples planning to have a child, for parents, and family life educators. Thank you Elizabeth and Neil Carman for compiling this tome!”—Jeannine Parvati Baker, coauthor of Conscious Conception: Elemental Journey through the Labyrinth of Sexuality and author of Hygieia: A Woman’s Herbal and Prenatal Yoga and Natural Childbirth“An extraordinary research work, yielding a quasi-encyclopedic treasury of evidence for the soul’s preexistence. Cosmic Cradle makes it clear that pre-birth communication has been known and recorded throughout history and across cultures worldwide.”—Elisabeth Hallett, author of Stories of the Unborn Soul and Soul Trek: Meeting Our Children on the Way to Birth“Cosmic Cradle points out that the individual must search for the fulfillment of his own truth and depend upon that for his illumination. Cosmic Cradle is marvelous, a rare privilege, a tremendous teaching.… It opened new vistas and new horizons. It is a work of illumination. Thank you for the great opportunity to expand my consciousness.”—Murshida Vera Justin Corda, PhD, founder of New Age Sufi Schools, author of Cradle in Heaven and Holistic Child Guidance“Cosmic Cradle offers an extraordinary collection of stories shared by families who experienced pre-birth memories and communication from both the parent’s and the baby’s points of view. Their portrayals of the incarnation process from spirit to human realms are supported in thebook by the timeless understandings nearly every culture has had—that we are conscious spiritual beings coming into human life with purpose and design. We are at a tipping point in Western thought, moving from Newtonian views into a consciousness-based understanding of our corespiritual nature. Cosmic Cradle inspires us forward into the new, yet ancient wisdom of that core nature at the beginning of life.”—Wendy Anne McCarty, PhD, RN, author of Welcoming Consciousness: Supporting Babies’ Wholeness from the Beginning of Life“Cosmic Cradle is a global mind transformer. Not only is it a masterpiece in how it is written with such clarity, interest, and organization, but the scope of its contents is pointedly destined to change our ideas about life. The evidence is stacked up too high in this book to dismiss its message of the soul’s immortality.”—Susan Herzberger, author of On Becoming Enlightened“I was amazed at the breadth and depth of the information which this book contains. It elevated my understanding of the subject to an entirely new level, and revolutionized my ideas, not only about the consciousness level of the in-utero baby but the extent to which mother and child can communicate and interact.”—John W. Sloat, host of www.beyondreligion.com and author of A Handbook for Heretics"Beauty, poetry, clarity: authentic convincing research." —Reverend Lucille M. Rosen, PhD, director of Healing Process Workshops, New York

He taught in the biological sciences and also created a new university course on the growing evidence of how meditation techniques unfold our consciousness beyond what is generally recognized.

Can I give it MORE than 5 stars? I LOVE this book. I literally find my jaw dropping with pretty much every story. The validations these people have gotten from their parents are astounding. Things that they 'know' which are confirmed by parents and others could not have been available to them in any other way besides having seen and experienced those things firsthand.I'm only about 1/3 of the way into the book and I'm trying to savor every page. I don't want it to end and I'm HOPING for a sequel. I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to the supernatural or scientifically unproven. But for me, I have always found such hope in people who are born with very strong past life memories. Kids who are so tied to their previous life that they have a difficult time adjusting to their current life. Their memories are so strong, so detailed and clear that often, they end up meeting still living friends and relatives from their previous lifetime and those friends or relatives become convinced that the child was indeed their deceased loved one. Imagine the kind of evidence you would need to embrace some little kid who was claiming to be your dead brother, mother, aunt or spouse. It would have to be overwhelming! And it is!THIS book comes at a similar topic from a different aspect. Instead of kids who remember their previous life, they remember their BETWEEN life...and the decision making process in choosing their parents for the life they are currently living. When they tell their parents about the things they remember, the parents are stunned and wonder how their child could know such details from before they were born or from their own actual birth. One child described the building she was born in as red brick. When she saw it, the building was WHITE brick but someone confirmed that at the time she would have been born there, it was, indeed red. This is one of the least jaw dropping memories that are described!I love anything that makes me have hope in an afterlife or the continuity of spirit. This book does that for me.I belong to a face book group called The Michael Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy which is more focused on the BETWEEN LIFE realm. But this book confirms so many of Dr. Newton's findings and what his hypnotherapy patients experienced. I have shared my love of this book on that face book page. The people who have trusted my recommendation and purchased the book, have expressed a similar feeling about it. My friend Janet is almost finished with it and she got it a week after I did ! (I'm a slow reader). If you are at ALL interested in this topic or topics similar to this, you will not be disappointed by this book. I hope you buy it and I hope you review it and tell others about it.While you're at it, you can visit The Michael Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy face book page and see the comments that others have made about it!
This is an extremely well documented book and should be required reading for anyone with suicidal tendencies. It explains about the soul’s pre-birth memories and gives the reasons why some individuals have such difficult lives, while others seem to live in apparent ease. As Elizabeth and Neil Carman’s research shows, even conception and birth are not random or accidental happenings because we choose the structure of our lives ahead of time in order to experience specific things. Yes, the feast of information found in “Cosmic Cradle: Spiritual Dimensions of Life before Birth†leaves a haunting reminder of just how little we really know about ourselves and our journey here.
I had to add to my previous review-- I love this book so much that I bought a case of them to sell- then I (happily) gave theme all away- one by one. I even lent away my own copy. (I don't remember who has it #giveMeMyBookBack)This book would be especially meaningful to anyone who is alive. Or even is a human being. Or to those who fear death or loss.___________________________________________________previous review:I just love Cosmic Cradle, Spiritual Dimensions of Life before Birth, I can imagine that this book would bring comfort to those who have lost a baby, had a miscarriage or even had an abortion.I believe that if we, human beings, could shake the strong psychological discomfort that death holds, the choices we make regarding our birth might be made grounded in power and connection rather than fear. Our own inner connection and knowing might become stronger just knowing that this is possible in the world. I lent mine out, and the then I found I couldn't be without it. I had to have another one - and I already know who I want to lend THIS one to!I highly recommend this magical book! I
Nothing is more powerful to me than hearing stories from others experiences and this book is all about sharing stories! I didn't want it to end! As someone who works in prebirth and preconception communication, this book spoke so deeply to me. I felt like I was having a conversation with a wonderfully like-minded friend. Prebirth communication is REAL and it is POWERFUL and it is POSSIBLE and this book is a shining example of that! If you pick it up, my guess is you won't want to put it down and you won't want it to end. So much gratitude to Neil and Elizabeth for writing this powerful gift of a book.Lisbeth Eyrich-Fischer
Some of the material in this book sounds downright new-age and creepy for a Christian, even as liberal-minded as I am. But it's also quite thought-provoking and will provide hours of musing and general fright --- are we really all the same person? How scary to think...
A unique feature of this book is that it has a good balance of first hand reports from extraordinary people who share personal pre-birth experiences along with pre-birth evidence from religion, philosophy, anthropological reports of indigenous peoples, and the writings of poets such as Rumi and Wordsworth. I have never read a book like this before. Some books are just intellectual information for the mind. Others are anecdotal stories. The authors have explored both perspectives and created a bridge between the two. Cosmic Cradle satisfies my heart and mind.Cosmic Cradle convinced me that all of us have made choices before we entered our mother's womb that shaped our current life. The idea that our soul is eternal consciousness functioning before conception and prior to having a brain is amazing and wonderful to ponder. Everyone can take away something from this book that will better their understanding of who they are and why they are here.
