Very nice to have of all kinds of wildlife: animals, birds, fish, reptiles in one place (no plants). A good introduction to explain why the wildlife is different from on other continents.Like other Kindle books that are reference books, navigating around is tedious. There is a great index but it has dozens of pages to wade through on a Kindle. I only got the Kindle to save weight while traveling. I am now spending even more to buy a (used) hardback for home use.

This is a beautiful book filled with lots of information. It's very comprehensive. The pictures are magnificent, and I would say the overall quality of the book is superb!

We had been to Australia and wanted a keepsake of everything we had seen while traveleing there. This book has everything.

This book strikes a good balance between illustration and info., and between scientific accuracy and chatty description. It covers the whole range of animal life with no apparent bias toward mammals, birds fish, reptiles, or amphibians, or invertebrates. We have both the indigenous and the immigrant species, with reference to the dilemmas of species in collision. The beasts are presented in an order of biological similarity, so it's a bit involved to look up a specific animal, but you get a feel for the relationships and proportions of animal populations. It's both a large work of zoology and a excellent coffee table material.

Not bad, but very strange: a lot information about animals, but absolutely absent data on plant life. Why 'WILD LIFE"?
