While Paul E. Walker's monograph "Early Philosophical Shi'ism" concentrated almost exclusively on Sijistani's "Kitab al-Yanabi' " (Book of the Wellsprings), here Singh gives us a brief, learned expository summary on the "Kitâb al-Iftikhâr", which alongside Sijitani's *Kashf al-Mahjub* edited by Henry Corbin, stands as one of the important texts of this great Isma'ili Neoplatonic thinker which has come down to us. Apart from Ismail Poonawala's English language introduction to the critical Arabic text of this work, Arun Singh's study is presently the only other major monograph of this work by Sijistani.The author deals well with his subject matter and summarizes the contents of this work in a concise and deliberate manner. For serious students of medieval Fatimid Isma'ili thought this is an important and welcome monograph.
