This Raffi "Songs to Read" book is my toddlers favorite book, hands down. We originally borrowed a copy from our local library and he became attached to the book (we had to read it over and over and over again), so we purchased our own copy.At first he simply loved that my husband and I sang the book to him. But as we read it more and more he learned what verses go where and started to do hand motions or sounds for them on his own. Reading the book is now a totally interactive activity. We ask him what comes next, and he responds. So we have a lot of fun family time with this book. And I highly recommend adding this book to your library.Plus, I think overall it is a fun change of pace to sing a book to a child rather than just reading it.
This book illustrates the popular preschool song in an engaging and playful way. It is helpful in teaching both the child and parents the sequence of the verses and the lyrics to the song. Really helpful when your child just starts learning the song in preschool or daycare and you’re not sure of the lyrics.
Sing the song while turning the pages. My granddaughter loves this book and song. For weeks, she would gleefully point out different busses as we drove around. High quality board book and fun pictures to illustrate the song.

This is my first review even after years and thousands of dollars in purchases on Amazon. I felt I owed it to the author after finally feeling thrilled with a cookbook purchase.As an aspiring "home chef" without talent or experience, I've bought dozens of cookbooks hoping to find one that would enable me to create cuisine, not just mundane meals. Sadly, I have been let down countless times. Sure, my lack of cooking skills puts me at a huge disadvantage, but I'm not buying complex books. I tried to stick with cookbooks that focused on the novice. In the end, my dishes looked nothing like the photos, tasted nothing like the description, and left me with little more than dirty dishes and buyer's remorse.The Steamy Kitchen Cookbook changed that for me. I've now cooked six meals from within these pages and every single one of them left me literally smiling at first bite. Just like one of those corny food commercials. :) Here's why:1. The ingredients were all found at my local supermarket...unlike books that sent me to far away places in search of obscure spices that I'd never use again.2. The book was fun to read, kept my attention, and gave me insight like no other cookbook had given me in the past. Most just started right in with the recipes, leaving me with more questions than answers. Unlike the Steamy Kitchen, they focused on the "how" without ever addressing the "why".3. The steps were easy to follow, the dishes easy to prepare, and the end result actually matched the photos. The other cookbooks I bought should have come with a sous chef because I was way out of my element. I never realized how inadequate they were until I read and followed this book.4. The flavors were solid, delicious, and spot-on. I couldn't believe I made these meals. They seemed complex to the taste but they were actually quite easy to make. I wasn't the only one in our family raving about the food I cooked. If you knew me, you'd know how incredible that is.The Scallops & Fruit Salsa...amazing. The Salmon with Cucumber Relish...amazing (I used her 250-degree slow-cook method instead of steaming). The Crab Cakes...best I have EVER tasted. I could go on and on. And I will, in my kitchen, until I've cooked every meal in the book.If you are hesitant to purchase this book...don't be. Even if you actually ARE a chef, unlike me, you'll find the dishes and flavors to be divine. But if you're a hazard waiting to happen in the kitchen, like me, this book will literally motivate you to keep trying.Yeah...it's that good.
If you've never heard of Jaden Hair or cooked any of her online recipes, let me just tell you right here and now that her cookbook will not disappoint you. Full of amazing and beautiful full color photos for each recipe, you can decide what you want to make for dinner this week simply by feasting with your eyes.For years, I used this beef broccoli recipe I'd found online and when I tried Jaden's beef broccoli recipe, my husband simply looked up at me after the first bite and said it was the best beef broccoli I'd ever made. When I made it for my in-laws, they absolutely loved it.Jaden gives you very great instructions and also writes with the same quirky, cute, and friendly tone as she does online. This is the kind of cookbook I absolutely adore, because the photography makes it something you can look through not only for recipes but for visual representation and her writing style really makes you feel as though you've got a friend in the kitchen. After cooking several of her recipes, I'm pretty much convinced that nothing in her cookbook will taste less than amazing.
Great Asian cookbook, but it came up as a "people who bought this also purchased this" item when I bought my steamer....and there is not a single steamer recipe in the book, well maybe a couple of dimsum dumpling recipes :) Since I love Asian food I'm not upset to get it, but I was really looking forward to getting a good cookbook for my new steamer.
I love Jaden Hair's "Steamy Kitchen CookBook". I first discovered her recipe for Mama's Famous EggRoll while surfing the net for egg roll recipes. I like the step by step photos and her comic sense of humor, as she instructs the readers on why you have to follow it step by step instructions. Her book has excelllent photos, including those of her beautiful family. The cook book is full of helpful, guiding tips, including such things as how to best cut up fresh ginger and advice on what kind of cookingware and ingredients to use. I love her comments on how other chefs have influenced her own cooking. I'm excited to starting trying some of her recipes.
This book is amazing. I want to try each recipe. I love there is a picture for each recipe so I know how the finished product should look. The only negative is where it takes about the tools and various ingredients, there are no pictures, so if you don't know what the tool or ingredient is, you are lost or need to go look it up.As I stated above, I didn't see any recipe in this book, I do not want to make.
So this is a great book. Jaden Hair illustrates how to make some great asian inspired dishes. Some of the recipes are incredibly easy, but many would take you a little longer or have too many ingredients to make it simple enough for a weekday meal for a family with a busy schedule. But if you are looking for a book with some great asian inspired recipes that will surely satisfy your family and you dont mind putting in a little elbow grease, here is your book. The book is beautifuly illustrated and easily explains through pictures, how to do more complex tasks, step by step. Only a few of her recipes contained ingredients that I thought may be hard to find outside of the asian grocery store, however, I had no problem finding any of them in my local grocer. Buy the book! You will enjoy it.

I once kept an octopus in a sea water aquarium. For the week that I kept her, she spent all her time watching every move that I made. Every night even though I piled the aquarium with plywood heaped with books and anything heavy, she would crawl out and I would find her on the rug the next morning. Thinking she was dead, I would scrape her into a dustpan and put her back in the aquarium where she would come to life -- unhappily. She had so much impact on me that by the end of the week I knew I had to put her back in the ocean. Her huge consciousness had made me feel small and stupid for trying to keep a creature that could make itself felt that way in a small aquarium. This happened in the '60's but I never forgot her and I have ever since been crazy about octopus (and cuttle fish). We have so consistently underrated the creatures we share the world with that this was a wake up call for me. For awhile, I wanted to be a marine biologist but I knew I wouldn't want to spend my time killing and cutting up living creatures to "scientifically" study them. If rats don't take over, than surely the octopus will once we are gone. Oh, yes, and I LOVED THIS BOOK and the woman who wrote it.
I felt the editorial reviews were misleading. They raved about this book. And while I was thrilled with the first half of the book since I was learning about octopuses, I was very positive about this reading experience initially. But then the author got into her scuba diving excursions and her relationships with other divers and I felt rather cheated. I thought the book was about the life style and physiology of the octopus, not about her scuba diving misadventures and relationships with other divers. I wonder if the folks who wrote the editorial reviews actually read her entire book. It was a disappointment to me.
I was certain I would love this book having encountered many octopuses while diving, and firmly being in the camp that they, like other living creatures, are sentient souls. We cannot know specifically what they are thinking but lets give them credit for having thoughts and capacity for something more than simple reaction to physical stimuli. I was eager to learn more about this. The book gets two stars because I did read it in its entirety - an easy enough read - and enjoyed the occasional information tidbits; furthermore if this treatment of the topic persuades anyone out there to think anew about such creatures, then despite shortcomings, there is some value to it. However, I give it no more than two stars for two reasons:1. This was pretty thin gruel, as others have said, with respect to any new or particularly insightful information about octopus behaviors or relationships or what we might deduce about octopus intellect or emotional life from closely and rigorously observing these things. This more is a story about the author's many visits 'behind the scenes' to a series of captured aquarium octopuses, and about the aquarium staff associated with that activity. The main gist about 'soulfulness' is drawn from how these confined creatures responded to the author, and others, in ways that she interpreted to be friendship. Perhaps so, perhaps not - she offers little to support this beyond the sensation of suckers winding up her arms, and what may have just as likely been the animals' desperate attempts to find relief from such close boring confines.2. That leads to the second reason for only two stars. If as seems the case that the author and aquarium staff care so deeply for these creatures, how can they then reconcile confining - alone - in a small dark boring pickle barrel for months at a time, animals captured in young and mid-life from their wild free oceanic homes. It might just be that these octopuses rise up in their barrel prison and taste those protruding arms with their suckers because there is NOTHING ELSE TO DO other than dying of depression. This confinement seems cruel beyond imagining...indeed one of the captured octopuses does die trying to escape, and others chomp at the restraints in similar attempts. It seems we've come to some consensus that this is not the way to treat primates, why then should it be ok for marine creatures which are being highlighted in this very same book as smart, soulful, and sentient. Does not add up. One can reasonably argue the value, plusses and minuses of zoos and aquarium in general, but capturing and tightly confining smart, free, wild animals for eventual display - and losing some in this process as the price of doing business - does have implications that are an inherent yet all but unacknowledged under-theme of this book. This created a wrinkle that this reader at least just could not overcome. For a more cogent treatment of this topic, I recommend Carl Safina's 'Beyond Words, What Animals Think and Feel' or watch his excellent recent TED talk on the same topic.
Disappointing. I was hoping to learn more about the lives of octopuses, but instead I most of the story was about someone visiting several octopuses in an aquarium. Not a big fan of keeping animals in captivity - the author even describes how some of the animals must have got really bored - but instead of learning many facts about these amazing creatures, we get loads of little side stories about the personal lives of the other people visiting or working at the aquarium.I read this book after "What a Fish Knows" which is a brilliant book, very insightful, and maybe I set the bar too high and was expecting something similar.

I was super stoked to get and read this book as I have been following Josh on social media and occasionally on his Bravo TV show. The book was OK and not "awe-inspiring" or any fancy adjective that a lot of the five star reviews have suggested. That leads me to believe a lot of the top ratings are fake. :( and I noticed a lot of the 5 star ratings were posted within a couple days of the book coming out.The book itself was OK. Some parts were really entertaining but I didn't get a lot out of it, other than Josh loves his fiancée and has an uber successful real estate business. There were some motivational quotes sprinkled throughout but I definitely think this book could have been condensed down into a short YouTube video, or blog post.
I felt as if who Josh is on the show is how he is in the book. Very egotistical. Some of the topics (trying shrooms) I did not find necessary to talk about in a book about real estate.Some parts, the parts not about him, I enjoyed reading and got great advice for my real estate business.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
Good stuff. I enjoyed it for the positive spirit and honesty. Josh may come off as egotistical, but he also strikes me as well grounded, for which I credit his family.I think it's easy to discount what Josh and the other realtors on the TV show do, and to write it off as the product of a lucky break in getting on the show in the first place. But no way these guys would last on the show if they didn't possess some real talent.Enjoyed hearing Josh's account of heading into the original interview to get on the show. He was scared, but determined to get in there and fight. To me, this sums it all up. This took guts. He seems to have the right approach to life in general and is able to capitalize on his many good breaks. To me, this is what makes the book inspiring.Recommended reading.
As a fan of the show, I have admire and like the way all these agents in one of the most challenging markets operate, and I have identified with Josh Almant the most and wanted to pick his brain. Well in this book Josh has been able to provide his views in Real Estate, his tactics, his business model in a story telling type of way to give great examples of his successes as well as his failures, because you learn from both. Great book easy to read, amazing content!
Josh has alot of good points in this book but uses unnecessary examples to get his point across. Also felt like this book was definitely targeted to Men. He uses a lot of examples about women and things of that nature that sometimes seem inappropriate. If you take those things out. It's actually a decent book. But his ego does come through alot in this book.

The informal Josh imparts is incredible. The book is well written, and full of great Josh'-isms that are practical and usable in all business, not just real estate. Mr. Altman is articulate, funny, and down to earth.I look forward to her release of his next book in April.
So sure all these 5 stars reviews are fake! Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This was a great textbook. It was extremely fair priced...However students should be aware that their are different editions of the textbook and it made a huge difference in the assignments. The "Inquiries" differ in each edition. Be aware that getting the wrong edition will affect your ability to complete assignments accurately .

The book provides an in depth and complete treatment of it's subject matter.The math is all there. But along with the math are clear discussions of what and why.Too often equations are thrown out there in a lump with a brief description. That approach cannot help but miss important and enlightening details or nuances. More than that, I think when you see that you should suspect that the source doesn't understand the material themselves.From this book it is clear that this author knows the subject inside and out. Which isn't any surprise. The surprise is just how well he conveys that knowledge here.Highly recommend this book for anyone who wants a complete understanding of this material.

This is the wonderful text book for macro-labor and it must be the bible for students who are major especially in macroeconomics and labor economics.
The book is written by one of the pioneers of matching theory approach to unemployment theory. The book starts with very simple matching models and builds its way up by adding something at each chapter. So the book starts by a deterministic model of equilibrium with only labor as input. you see that first capital is added to the model, then dynamics of the model are discussed and balanced paths are derived. Then random elements and shocks are added,then heterogeneity among workers is considered and then search efforts and other elements are being added.I think the book is very well written and the flow of topics and ideas is smooth and easy to grasp. Verbal discussion and explanations are clear, informative and are always accompanied by the proper formulas and derivations. Note that the book covers only matching models of labor and completely ignores other types of models (like efficiency wage, implicit contracts, ...). Also chapters don't have exercises at the end, which I don't think is a major handicap for the book, as it is more meant for graduate level research.In general I think this book makes understanding the matching theory easy and anybody who wants to work on labor economics should know about this book.

Ben Clanton has created a simple yet adorable book that my daughter loves! She has read it several times. Although this is not a long and detailed book it is fun! I call it a "between" book that makes her laugh and want to read before the next chapter book. Clanton is one of the few writers who has a Narwhal for a character. My daughter loves that. We are excited for the next in the series!
I know this is a kids book but seriously, it's just so darn cute! My son (5) laughs over and over and over with this one. We loved the first in the series and this one did not disappoint! Ben Clanton needs to put more out and fast! PLEASE!!! We are going to pre-order the third one set to release April of 2018! I am looking for similarly funny and easy to read beginner books now. We just love these!
Our new favorite kids books!!! We have the first two can't wait for the 3rd!!! These are ADORABLE!! You should also buy the finger puppets my child sleeps with them every night he is 6, he brought these books to school, all his friends thought he was so cool, he even reads them on the way to school, they got my kid to read - FOR FUN! They are so funny and cute, adults will LOVE reading them! I love the hidden jokes - so much fun to look at and read! Perfect books in EVERY WAY.
Much longer and has more difficult words than book 1. My daughter can just about read book 1 independently, so I was excited to get her book 2 for her Easter basket...but it's much different. Also be aware that this book references calling someone a blue-footed booby a few times. May not be a big deal to some, but I thought it was worth mentioning because it completely shocked me that it was in the book.
My kids laughed reading this. We are always looking for fun graphic novels for my younger reluctant reader. We were not disappointed with this book. It is super short, so if you are looking for a longer more mature graphic novel this is not for you. My second grade reader was able to read this fluently and fairly quickly. Cute!
We are a family of readers. My son, 5, loved the first book. SO when I saw this one, and that they were now super heroes, I knew it would be a hit. We initially bought it for my niece who loves Narwhals, but when it arrived, Sebastian took it to read. I had to buy another copy for Mackie. We have read it many time and are looking forward to the next book (which we have pe-ordered).
My 8-year old daughter absolutely loves this book series. I've noticed more and more of the "comic book" style (non-paragraph with mostly illustrations and bubbles for spoken text) of children's books lately which I wasn't crazy about at first. However, this one is well done and of the 2 that we have, they are both entertaining. It has been the go-to bedtime book for the past several weeks!
The Narwhal and Jelly books are my 7 yr old’s favorites! They’re informative, yet silly and funny. My second grader reads then easily and gets every joke along the way. They’re just so cute, I recommend these to anyone with young elementary aged kids!
